Cleve Hayes

Cleve grew up in a suburb of Detroit surrounded by houses. The tiny backyard though was filled with wildflowers saved from construction sites by his parents while Dearborn was being developed. He spent many hours laying flat to watch shoots emerging, petals opening and seeds forming. A love of all natural things has occupied him all his life. Cleve received his BFA from Eastern Michigan University in 1980 with a minor in art history and added a season at Pewabic Pottery. He managed clay, sculpture and jewelry studios at EMU, U of M and the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. For the last twenty years Cleve has operated Puddingstone Farm, now with his daughter, son-inlaw and two grandkids lives out his dream of being a simple potter, plant guy and rock collector in our family business!

Josephine Fowler

Kokedama Queen

Josephine found her passion for flowers and design in the unlikeliest of places; pursuing a degree in nursing and music performance! What started as a part time college job with a local florist slowly progressed into her own business as an event coordinator and floral designer.  She treasures the opportunity to share with you the centuries old gardening art of Kokedama and the many opportunities that it brings to plant lovers both young and old. These days she manages the business end of things for Puddingstone Farm, working for her dad, Cleve. Josephine lives in Southwest Michigan with her husband, Joshua, and their beautiful twins.

Josh Fowler

Josh is our, in-house ‘Jack-of-all-Trades’. He is responsible for about 75% of our glass production! If you’ve purchased a suction cup vase in the last 6 years, chances are he made it. When something breaks - Josh fixes it. When Cleve or Josie want some sort of new display - Josh fabricates it. When a fellow vendor needs a sign hung or the AC in their vehicle recharged - Josh makes it happen. All that aside, don’t let his production numbers fool you, he has quite the creative side in the metal studio (AKA, the Fowler homestead down in Southwest Michigan)

Josh’s love & appreciation for welding and metal work started at the tender age of 9 with his local 4H group; over the years he has worked welding into both his creative and professional life, even working in a custom industrial  furniture fabrication studio. Keep your eyes open for more of his metal work at shows this coming season!!
